UAE Pavilion Al Saadiyat Island

Shaped like two parallel sand dunes – smooth and curvaceous on the windward side, steep and rippled on the eroded side – this award-winning building by Sir Norman Foster and partners was designed for the 2010 Shanghai Expo and then relocated in Abu Dhabi. Along with neighbouring Manarat Al Saadiyat, its major role since arriving on Saadiyat has been to host Abu Dhabi Art. UAE Pavilion project is Located on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi. The building has one ground and one mezzanine level with a total assembly area of 3,737 sq.m and overall occupant load within the building is considered to be 2669 persons. It has an exhibition space and a performance hall.
The unique element in this building is the reaasembly of the structure from Shanghai Expo 2010 to Abu Dhabi, showcasing a real example of how building structure can be reassebled and repurposed when well engineered.
